Christmas is less than a week away! If you’re not quite ready for your guests (or Santa) to arrive yet, don’t fret. Read down through our Christmas checklist of essential tips, reminders, and creative ideas. And remember: Christmas isn’t about presents; enjoy your time with friends and family, and celebrate!
Your Christmas Checklist
1. Decorate 🙂
Make sure to “deck the halls” of your home with festive scenery to get everyone in the Christmas spirit. Hang a fresh wreath on your front door, wrap garlands around your banister, or arrange boughs of holly into a table centerpiece. Add bright red bows and white Christmas candles to help to create a cozy holiday atmosphere.
Hang some Christmas lights! If you don’t want to go through the hassle of decorating your whole house, consider simpler options such as outlining the windows or front door, or just lighting a few trees or bushes in your front yard. Or you can just decorate your mailbox and front porch with garlands or bows.
Hopefully you already have your Christmas tree picked out and set up in your living room but if not, make sure pick one out at your local tree farm and spend time together as a family hanging the lights and ornaments.
2. Wrap Presents
Get your wrapping done early (hopefully you’ve finished shopping) so that you have more quality time to spend with friends and family in the days leading up the Christmas. Try to wrap a few gifts a night rather than doing it all at once. Tip: It’s okay to use gift boxes and bags to save some time.
Make hand-crafted cards or ornaments as a family. Your relatives will appreciate the thoughtfulness and you’ll get to enjoy a fun craft night in the process.
3. Stuff Stockings
Make sure each member of your family (maybe even your pets!) has his or her own stocking to open on Christmas morning. No one’s too old to enjoy little trinkets or goodies from Santa!
Tip: you can’t go wrong with a pack of Martin’s bread or rolls in every stocking!
4. Listen to Christmas Music
Nothing gets you in the holiday spirit quite like your favorite Christmas songs. Whether you enjoy “Silent Night,” “Jingle Bells,” or “Feliz Navidad,” build a playlist and listen to it throughout your day (on your way to work, while cooking dinner, etc.)
5. Go Caroling
Spread the Christmas cheer with those around you. Get together with a group of friends and sing your favorite carols door-to-door in your neighborhood or at a local retirement community.
6. Watch Christmas Movies
Take out those movies you only get to watch once a year – the classics like “It’s a Wonderful Life” or family favorites like “Elf” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” – and enjoy with your loved ones!
7. Plan the Perfect Christmas Dinner {hint: Martin’s Potato Rolls can help}
Find a balance between your favorite holiday classics and some fun and festive side dishes. Lighten the load by asking different family members to bring specific dishes.
Create an edible centerpiece for your holiday dinner by transforming some simple appetizers into festive Christmas wreaths! Check out some recipe ideas below.
Christmas Wreath Appetizers
Pigs-in-a-Blanket Wreath

Who doesn’t love pigs-in-a-blanket? Use mini hot dogs or sausages, tucked inside Martin’s Party Potato Rolls to create this fun dish. Serve alongside cherry tomatoes or red bell peppers and rosemary sprigs for some red-and-green décor. Hint: Rosemary makes an excellent Christmas garnish because of its fragrant aroma and pine needle-like appearance.
Christmas Appetizer Wreath

Split Martin’s Dinner Rolls in half, then top with a cream cheese/sour cream spread, broccoli florets, and diced bell pepper for a simple and delicious appetizer.
Three Cheese Spinach Dip

First whip up your favorite dip recipe, such as Three Cheese Spinach Dip. Bake until dip is warm and melty. Then, coat some Martin’s Party Potato Rolls in cooking spray or butter and bake until golden brown (about 3- 5 minutes at 350 degrees). Arrange both the dip and the Martin’s Party Potato Rolls together on a circular platter and enjoy.
Tip: you could also make the above recipe with Spinach Artichoke Dip, Smoked Mozzarella Dip, or a simple baked brie.
8. Most Importantly… Remember the Reason for the Season
Amidst all the decorating, wrapping, and baking, keep in mind the real meaning of Christmas: the birth of Jesus! Take time to attend your church’s Christmas service, or just stop and reflect on the wonderful story of Christmas.
“And the angel said unto them: Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:10-11, KJV)
