We spent many days in February, March, and April waiting for the warm weather and bright sunshine of summer. Back when we had to wear several layers outside, it was hard to remember what it feels like to bask in the summer heat. Now that we’ve reached peak summer temperatures, we’re back to gravitating toward our air conditioners and reaching for any cold treat that can cool us down.
If you’re looking for some kind of relief from the burning temperatures of late summer, allow us to suggest our mouthwatering ice cream recipes! Didn’t know potato rolls and bread can be enjoyed with cold ice cream? That’s right! Between over-the-top milkshakes and sweet-and-salty ice cream sandwiches, these recipes are sure to squelch your heat exhaustion and your cravings!
Featured Recipe: Exploding Milkshakes
You’ve probably seen these over-the-top shakes at some kind of burger and ice cream restaurant in your lifetime. These “exploding” milkshakes have essentially two purposes: to be eye-catching and mouthwatering.
We couldn’t hardly make an over-the-top ice cream creation without including one of our favorite sweet treats—French toast! This piled-high sundae is filled with a vanilla milkshake, a scoop of strawberry ice cream, and caramel sauce. Then, it’s decorated with hazelnut spread, whipped cream, sprinkles, fruit skewers, and pieces of Martin’s Maple Brown Sugar Swirl French toast dipped in powdered sugar!
Consider this milkshake the cool-down version of one of our favorite summer treats: s’mores! This summer-inspired snack is filled to the brim with a chocolate milkshake and garnished with hot fudge, sprinkles, chocolate chips, graham cracker crumbs, whipped cream, a maraschino cherry, and a s’more crostini—a flattened Party Potato Roll topped with marshmallow fluff, hazelnut spread, and graham cracker crumbs.
Are you a fan of vanilla cake? Or the classic vanilla sundae with sprinkles? This last milkshake is the one for you! For this variation, we combined a vanilla milkshake, vanilla icing, rainbow sprinkles, whipped cream, and strawberry topping for one tasty treat! But, we’re not done; finish off this masterpiece with a party roll ice cream sandwich and a cherry on top!

Featured Recipe: Grilled Swirl Bread Ice Cream Sandwich
This brand new recipe is a combination of all the things we love most: grilled cheese, swirl bread, and ice cream! To create, assemble two white cheddar and swirl bread grilled cheese sandwiches and pan fry until golden brown. Then cut in half and fill with vanilla ice cream for a not-too-sweet, not-too-salty summer treat.
Once again, sweet French-toasted Martin’s Potato Bread and vanilla ice cream combine for a summertime snack dream team. This time, with an irresistible cinnamon-sugar topping!
Okay, sure, bread pudding may not sound like a summer food. But, trust us, you may change your mind when you pair this fruity and caramel-covered treat with a dollop of creamy, cold ice cream.
If you’re not one for over-the-top shakes or French toast ice cream sandwiches, this simple and decadent recipe is perfect for you. Just toast up a few Martin’s Dinner Rolls, cut out the top, and fill with your favorite ice cream and toppings!
Last up is another decadent bread pudding and ice cream pairing. This one—made with Martin’s Cinnamon-Raisin Swirl Bread and a caramel drizzle—may even win your heart over a classic sundae.
