Smashburger Sliders with Grilled Onions

40 Mins

Ingredients

2 ¼ Pounds Ground Beef (80/20)

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 Sweet Onion, thinly sliced

1 Tablespoon Olive Oil

2 Tablespoons Salted Butter

12 Slices Cheddar Cheese, cut into quarters

12 Martin's Sweet Dinner Potato Rolls

Serves: 12

Directions

Step 1

Weigh out loosely packed balls of ground beef to 1.5oz each. Season with salt and place on baking sheet uncovered in fridge.

Step 2

Thinly slice onions and place in medium-large pan over medium heat with butter and oil. Cook until brown and translucent; about 15 minutes. Cook before serving burgers, or place in oven at low temperature to keep warm until ready to use.

Step 3

Heat up cast iron skillet on stovetop or grill on high heat until well heated. Place 2-4 burgers on skillet at a time. Smash burgers with unslotted metal spatula, then carefully slide spatula off so burger stays pressed to the griddle. Cook for about 2-3 minutes. Then firmly scrape the patty and flip. Add 2 quartered slices of cheese per patty. Once cheese is melted, remove patties from skillet. Repeat until all patties are cooked.

Step 4

To assemble, stack one patty on top of another, then place on Martin’s Sweet Dinner Potato Roll. Top with grilled onions and any other burger toppings. Place top bun and enjoy!
