Calla Lily Tea Sandwiches
12 Slices Martin’s Old-Fashioned Real Butter Bread
4 Ounces Plain Cream Cheese
2-3 Tablespoons Toasted Walnuts, finely chopped
1 Tablespoon Herbes de Provence Spice Blend
1/8 Teaspoon Ground Cayenne Pepper
1/8 Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
Pinch of Paprika
1 Carrot, peeled and julienned
Green Onions, tops only, for garnish
In a small bowl, combine cream cheese, walnuts, herbes de provence, cayenne, and black pepper. Beat at medium speed with a mixer until creamy.
Using a 3-4” round cookie cutter (or the rim of a glass cup), cut one round from each slice of bread. With a rolling pin, roll each bread round to a 1/8” thickness.
Spread 1-2 teaspoons cream cheese mixture onto each bread round. Sprinkle center with paprika, and fold the bottom of the bread round together, forming a funnel shape. Pinch the ends of the bread together to seal.
Place 1 julienned carrot (matchstick) in center of each sandwich to resemble the flower stamen. Garnish with green onion tops at the base of each flower to resemble stems, if desired.
