Our winter feature, the Winter Wonderland French Toast, is a classic, sweetly seasoned French toast stack made with Martin’s Old-Fashioned Real Butter Bread, layered with snowy blankets of cream cheese glaze and topped with frosty sugared blueberries and a light flurry of powdered sugar. Golden and crisp on the outside yet soft and warm inside, this wintry treat captures the essence of the season in every aspect.

Featured Recipe: Winter Wonderland French Toast

Total Time: 15 Minutes; Serves: 2

Ingredients:

French Toast:

  • 4 Slices Martin’s Old-Fashioned Real Butter Bread
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 Tablespoon Heavy Cream
  • ½ Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ½ Teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Tablespoon Unsalted Butter

Glaze:

  • 4 Ounces Cream Cheese, softened
  • ¼ Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/3 Cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Sugared Blueberries:

  • 1 Pint Fresh Blueberries
  • ¼ Cup Simple Syrup
  • ¼ Cup Sugar

Optional Toppings:

  • Powdered Sugar
  • Sanding Sugar
  • Sprinkles
  • Sugared Blueberries

Step 1 – Prepared Sugared Blueberries

Prepare sugared blueberries by coating fresh blueberries in simple syrup. Roll coated berries in sugar. Place berries in single layer on wire rack or tray. Allow to dry for 5-10 minutes.

Step 2 – Prepare Cream Cheese Glaze

Cream together 4 oz. softened cream cheese, ¼ cup granulated sugar, 1/3 cup heavy cream, 1 tsp. vanilla extract, and cinnamon and nutmeg (optional) in a medium mixing bowl. Cover and set aside.

Step 3 – Prepare Egg Mixture

In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla until combined.

Step 4 – Preheat Pan and Add Butter

Heat a large skillet on medium heat. Grease pan with butter.

Step 5 – Prepare French Toast

Dip each slice of Butter Bread into the egg mixture, enough to coat each side. Lay each coated slice into pan and flip when golden brown.

Step 6 – Build French Toast Stack

Stack slices on plate. Drizzle a spoonful of cream cheese glaze onto each slice and top with powdered sugar, sprinkles and sugared blueberries.

Step 7 – Serve

Serve and enjoy!
