Made With
Hoagie RollsIngredients
6 Martin’s Hoagie Rolls
6 Tablespoons Butter or Olive Oil
2 Cloves Garlic, minced
1 24-oz. Jar Marinara Sauce
1/2 Pound Deli-Style Pepperoni, thinly sliced
1/2 Pound Browned Sausage
1/2 Cup Fresh Parsley, Basil, Oregano or Combination, roughly chopped
1/4 Cup Sliced Kalamata Olives
1/2 Medium Green Pepper, sliced into strips
1/2 Medium White Onion, sliced into strips
1/2 Cup Sliced Mushrooms
6 Slices Mozzarella Cheese
6 Slices Provolone Cheese
1/4 Cup Shredded Asiago or Parmesan Cheese
Serves: 6
Directions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In skillet, brown sausage over medium heat and remove once fully cooked.
Step 2
If using peppers and onions, sauté onion and pepper strips in 2 tablespoons of olive oil until soft.
Step 3
Open the Martin’s Hoagie Rolls to lay flat; brush the inside with butter/olive oil and top with minced garlic. (Alternately, you can sprinkle with garlic powder.) Sprinkle the herbs over both slices of bread. Arrange onto a foil-lined baking sheet and bake until lightly golden in color.
Step 4
Remove baking sheet from oven and spread pizza sauce onto the bottom half of each bun.
Step 5
Layer on desired toppings— sausage, sliced pepperoni, kalamata olives, green peppers, mushrooms, onions, mozzarella cheese, provolone cheese, parmesan cheese, and fresh herbs.
Step 6
Return baking sheet back to oven (with subs open-faced) and bake or broil until cheese is melted.
Step 7
Remove from oven and top subs with fresh basil. Serve with extra pizza sauce on the side.
