Pepperoni Pizza Sub
6 Martin’s Hoagie Rolls
6 Tablespoons Butter
2 Cloves Garlic, minced
1 24-oz. Jar Marinara Sauce
1/2 Pound Deli-Style Pepperoni, thinly sliced
8 Ounces Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
1/4 Cup Shredded Asiago or Parmesan Cheese
1 Tablespoon Dried Oregano
1/4 Cup Fresh Basil, roughly chopped
Optional Pizza Toppings (e.g., bell pepper, onions, mushrooms, black olives, cooked crumbled sausage, etc.)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Open the hoagie rolls to lay flat; spreads inside with butter and minced garlic. (Alternately, you can sprinkle with garlic powder.) Arrange onto on a foil-lined baking sheet and bake until lightly golden in color.
Remove baking sheet from oven and spread pizza sauce onto the bottom half of each bun
Layer on desired pizza toppings—sliced pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, asiago or parmesan cheese, oregano, and any other optional toppings.
Return baking sheet back to oven (with subs open-faced) and bake or broil until cheese is melted.
Remove from oven and top subs with fresh basil. Serve with extra pizza sauce on the side.
