1 Loaf Martin’s Old-Fashioned Real Butter Bread

4 Eggs

1/3 Cup Unsalted Butter (melted)

1/3 Cup Molasses

1/3 Cup Milk

1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

1 Teaspoon Cinnamon

1 Teaspoon Ginger

1/2 Teaspoon Nutmeg

1/2 Teaspoon Allspice

1/4 Teaspoon Cloves

Powdered Sugar, for serving

Serves: 9


Step 1

Layer bread slices inside a greased 9″x 13″ casserole dish.

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine butter, molasses, eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves.

Step 3

Stir until well combined and then spread over bread slices using a spoon or basting brush. Make sure to get in between each slice of bread so they are all well covered with the gingerbread sauce.

Step 4

Cover with aluminum foil and place in refrigerator to soak for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Step 5

Preheat oven to 350 and bake 22-25 minutes.

Step 6

Serve topped with powdered sugar.
