Southern Fried Stuffing Balls
8 Ounces Spicy Sausage, crumbled
Canola oil, for frying
1 Cup Flour
6 Ounces Martin's Potatobred Stuffing Cubes
Chicken Stock (for preparing stuffing)
1 tablespoon of parsley (optional)
1 tablespoon of thyme (optional)
Make stuffing according to basic package instructions (see recipe for Mrs. Martins Famous Stuffing below). Cook with chicken stock for added flavor. Add extra seasonings, if desired. Allow to cool slightly.
Add oil to a large skillet to a depth of about 1/4 inch and heat over medium heat. Meanwhile, roll sausage into small balls. Once the oil is heated, cook sausage balls until golden brown.
Remove sausage from pan and drain in a paper towel-lined bowl.
Once drained, cover each sausage ball in stuffing and set aside on a plate. Roll each stuffing ball in flour.
Meanwhile, heat canola oil in a large skillet to about 350 degrees. Once heated, carefully drop each sausage stuffing balls into the oil and cook for about 3 minutes or until golden brown.
Once stuffing balls have cooled, serve.
