Made With
Long Potato RollsIngredients
1/2 Pound Elbow Macaroni Noodles
2 Tablespoons Flour
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
2 Tablespoons Salted Butter
1 Cup Whole Milk
1/4 Cup Sour Cream
2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
8 Ounces Jumbo Lump Crabmeat
8 Hot Dogs
8 Martin’s Long Potato Rolls
2 Teaspoons Old Bay
Serves: 8
Directions
Step 1
To make macaroni, start by cooking the noodles according to package directions – they typically take 5-7 minutes in boiling water. Be sure to add a 1/4 teaspoon salt to water used to boil the noodles. Drain and set aside when ready.
Step 2
To make the cheese sauce for the macaroni, start by mixing flour, salt, and garlic powder together in a small bowl. Set aside.
Step 3
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
Step 4
Add flour mixture and whisk to combine. Cook for 1 minute until mixture is slightly brown.
Step 5
Add milk and whisk until the mixture is smooth.
Step 6
Add sour cream and whisk until smooth. Cook on medium-high heat until the mixture is thickened (about 3-5 minutes). Do not let it boil.
Step 7
Once mixture is thick, reduce heat to low and add cheese. Whisk until cheese is melted and mixture is smooth.
Step 8
Add cooked pasta and most of the crab meat to the pot of cheese and stir until sauce is evenly distributed. Set aside to cool.
Step 9
Cook hot dogs according to your preferred cooking method.
Step 10
Place each hot dog in a bun and top with mac and cheese, then add a few extra lumps of crab and garnish with old bay.
