Anyone who has gone camping before would recognize the familiar flavor pairing of melty chocolate and gooey marshmallows sandwiched between two graham crackers. That’s right…we’re talking about S’mores, named as a contraction of the phrase “some more,” as in “I want some more of these delicious treats!”

If reading this is making you hungry, don’t worry! Wednesday, August 10th is National S’mores Day! Celebrate by having a family s’mores night this week – let everyone in your family create their own s’mores-inspired creation.

If you love the traditional method of roasting marshmallows over an open fire, make a whole evening out of it. Get out your camping gear and have a mini backyard camping experience – visit our Staycation Resource Page for some fun camping ideas! You can also make our recipe for S’mores Mountain Pies (see below) over the open campfire.

Be creative – think of new ways to combine the classic trio of flavors (or maybe add some new ones). Check out our creative recipe ideas below and give them a try!

S’mores Mountain Pie

Make a “s’mores bar” by arranging a variety of ingredients on your picnic table, letting everyone choose his or her favorites. Then layer all of the ingredients between two slices of buttered Martin’s Potato Bread, press into a mountain pie maker, and melt it all together over the campfire! Try flavors like milk chocolate, white chocolate, peanut butter, coconut flakes, or crumbled graham crackers.
