1 1/2 Loaves Martin’s Old-Fashioned Real Butter Bread, left out to dry slightly
6 Eggs
1 ½ Cup Milk, divided
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 Tablespoon Granulated Sugar
1 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
1 Package Cream Cheese
1 Cup Powdered Sugar
5 Cups Mixed Berries (Raspberry, Blackberry, Blueberry)
1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar
1 Tablespoon Cornstarch
Serves: 8-12
Directions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350F.
Step 2
Spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray; set aside.
Step 3
In a large bowl, combine, eggs, 1 cup of milk, vanilla extract, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon; whisk together until blended.
Step 4
Tear 1 loaf of Martin’s Old-Fashioned Real Butter Bread into 1” pieces. Then, add the bread pieces to the egg mixture, stirring to coat. Let sit in the mixture for 5 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 5
In a medium bowl, combine berries, ½ cup sugar, and cornstarch. Stir to combine.
Step 6
Spread bread and egg mixture in the prepared baking dish.
Step 7
Spoon berries over bread mixture.
Step 8
Bake for 45 to 55 minutes or until bubbling and golden brown.
Step 9
While casserole is baking, lightly toast 8 pieces of Martin’s Old-Fashioned Real Butter Bread. Using star shaped cookie cutters, cut toasts into stars. Sprinkle with sugar.
Step 10
Whisk together cream cheese, ½ cup of milk, and 1 cup of powdered sugar until smooth.
Step 11
When casserole is finished baking, arrange stars on top of berries. Drizzle ½ cream cheese topping over top; save remainder for serving.
*Serve with powdered sugar, fresh berries, whipped cream, ice cream or maple syrup if desired.
