Sliders:
12 Martin’s Sweet Dinner Potato Rolls
8 oz cream cheese, room temp
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
1 egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup apple pie filling
Apple Pie Filling:
3 cups apples, peeled and sliced thin
1/2 cup light brown sugar
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/16 tsp ground cloves
1/16 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 cup of water
1 tbsp cornstarch + 3 tbsp water
Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2–3 tsp milk
Serves: 6-8
Directions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Step 2
Meanwhile, prepare the apple pie filling:
- Add the sliced apples, sugar, salt, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and water to a large stock pot.
- Cook over low/medium heat for 15 minutes until the apples are tender.
- In a bowl, mix together the cornstarch and water. Add the slurry to the apple mixture. Mix well.
- Continue to cook until thickened like an apple pie filling.
- Set aside until ready to use.
Step 3
In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, powdered sugar, lemon juice, and egg yolk until smooth.
Step 4
Use a sharp knife to cut out the centers of the dinner rolls to create space for filling.
Step 5
Fill the rolls with the cream cheese mixture, then top with apple pie filling.
Step 6
Bake for 12–15 minutes, until golden brown.
Step 7
Whisk together powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze.
Step 8
Drizzle glaze over the sliders.
