Made With
Butter BreadIngredients
4 Slices Martin's Butter Bread
8 Ounces Mushrooms, sliced
1 Medium Yellow Onion, sliced
Salt and Pepper, to taste
4 Tablespoons Butter
1 Cup Gouda Cheese, shredded
Serves: 2
Directions
Step 1
Slice mushrooms and onions to preferred size.
Step 2
Heat a skillet on the stovetop to medium heat. Sauté sliced mushrooms and onion in 2 tablespoons of butter until soft. Sprinkle with a few pinches of salt and pepper.
Step 3
Remove from pan and set aside.
Step 4
Spread remaining butter on one side of each of the pieces of bread. Assemble sandwiches by layering shredded gouda, roasted mushrooms and onions, then more gouda on the non-buttered side of a piece of bread. (Layering this way ensures that the melty cheese will hold the sandwich together.) Top with the other slice of bread with the butter side up. Lightly press together. Repeat with remaining bread and ingredients.
Step 5
Place sandwiches in pan on low-medium heat.
Step 6
Cook for about 5 minutes, until lightly browned, then gently flip sandwich on other side, and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until cheese is melted and sandwich is browned to preference.
Step 7
Enjoy!
